DOING WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE - JUST THINK ABOUT IT

My life will touch a dozen lives before this day is done

Leave countless marks of good or ill, before the set of sun.

This, the wish I always wish, the prayer I always pray

Lord, may my life help others lives it touches by the way.

 

         Making a positive impact on the lives of people around us is not always an easy challenge. However, if we are a follower of Christ and His teaching, that is exactly what we are called to do.

         In your endeavors to be a blessing to some people, you may have become discouraged by their negative response and have been tempted to say "What’s the use”. Maybe you tried to help someone and they turned against you rather than showing appreciations for your concern.

         What do you do when all your efforts toward doing good meets with discouraging opposition? What do you do when it seems like all your positive "good works” are met with negative backlash?

         This past week, I received an email from two independent sources which deal with this issue. It was a somewhat lengthy quote from the words of Mother Theresa entitled "ANYWAY”. She is credited for having shared the following challenge.

         People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered – forgive anyway

         If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives – be kind anyway.

         If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you – be honest and frank anyway.

         What you spend years building up they may destroy overnight – keep building anyway.

         All the good you do today, they may forget tomorrow – do good anyway.

         Give the world the best you have and it will never be enough – give your best anyway.

         You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; it never was between you and them – anyway!

         What you and I do certainly does make a difference. Even in the face of great opposition, may we use our daily lives to the fullest of its positive potential by doing what needs to be done. Only eternity will reveal the full impact each of us has made on the lives of those around us. Just think about it!

Healing

·          Sandy Boddy – recovering from surgery

·          Anita – healing of cancer (Kathy Hellam’s daughter-in-law)

·          Ernest Lee – pray for healing & removal of cancer

·          Nathaniel – 1 month old –fluid in head and possible blindness (nephew of Cora Berezowski)

·          Mike McCaw – healing for mother’s legs / father’s cancer

·          Bev Walsh – peace of mind/salvation/healing for family members

·          Kidz Fest - August 19. Please pray for this Billy Graham Evangelistic Outreach, to be held at the Armouries, involving 10 of our area churches
