LIVING LIFE IN A TENT  

        If I were to ask you, "Where do you live?” you would most likely give me the name of the community in which you reside or the name of the street on which your house is located.

        If I were to push a little harder and repeat the same question, some people would possibly respond by describing the type of house in which they live – bungalow, apartment, condo etc.

        However, when I ask you where you live, I am not referring to either of the above answers. I suggest to you that all of us live in one of two tents. We either live in "discontent” or "content”.

        "Discontent” is the house that is built from always wanting something more than what you have. Greed, jealousy, envy and materialism are the master builders of such places of residence and they never stop working. Those who live in a house called discontent are never satisfied with anything in life. They are continually driven by the demon of desire for "more”, "better”, "bigger”, "faster” and "newer”.

        The residents who live in discontent are tortured with a "must have” philosophy – whether they need it or not. They trust nobody but themselves and rather than love people and use things, they often use people and love things. While their "tent” is full – their heart is empty.

         "Content”, on the other hand is just the opposite. The master contractors of this dwelling place are love, faith, peace and generosity. These people have learned the secret of making the most of what they don’t have. They hold tightly to people and loosely to things. They look at and listen to advertisements and smile as they consider all the things they don’t need in order to be truly happy.

        The residents of "content” find great fulfillment and purpose in giving rather than receiving. They have learned that we must be more concerned about our disposition than about our position.

        I watched a movie recently called "Facing the Giants”. A great one-liner in that movie rally says it all for me. The coach said to one of his football players, "Do your very best and leave the results to God.”

        It is hard to believe that Adam and Eve were led away from their relationship with God because of the seed of discontent – even though they were given everything they needed by God for a completely rich and full life.

        Now, let me ask again, "Where do you live?” A more defined question would be, "In which "tent” are you living – "discontent” or "content”? All of us live in one or the other.

        If you don’t like where you are living, it will cost you very little to move. If we really work at it, we can even make "content” our retirement home. Just think about it!

·          Anita – healing of cancer (Kathy Hellam’s daughter-in-law)

·          Ernest Lee – pray for healing & removal of cancer

·          Nathaniel – 1 month old –fluid in head and possible blindness (nephew of Cora Berezowski)

·          Mike McCaw – healing for mother’s legs / father’s cancer

·          Bev Walsh – peace of mind/salvation/healing for family members

·          Kidz Fest - August 19. Please pray for this Billy Graham Evangelistic Outreach, to be held at the Armouries, involving 10 of our area churches
